Food cart business is a project that was started in 2014 mainly to focus on single mothers and teen pregnant moms rescued from the slums. Its main focus was to help women from washing polythene bags from dirty and murky rivers in the slums to living a good life out of the slums and be able to provide for their families. It was started with two carts only, a portable food cart and a movable food cart for two years.
For one year, one woman would use one cart and then pass it to another. During the year, the women are taken through business training and then graduates for a microloan. They use the microloan to start and run the business of their choice.
A woman who was once collecting polythene bags from the garbage dump and washing them in a dirty river earning USD$1 a day is now able to earn USD$5 dollars a day.
