Thank you to our sponsors for your continuous support to the food cart program. Your contribution has not only seen the lives of more than 51 women transformed but also that of more than 204 children. The women are now able to take care of their children’s basic needs through the program.
The food cart Program started when one of our sponsors saw a desperate lady washing polythene bags in the murky River passing through Korogocho slum to recycle, sell and earn a living. The sponsor’s compassionate act decided to help her with a food cart to enable her make money from a decent business and make a living for herself and kids.
Asha Nabura has been phenomenal beneficiary of the program. A 48-year-old widowed woman with 5 children had previously been scavenging for food in the biggest dump site of Nairobi and recycling plastic bag to feed her family and take care of their basic needs and it was never enough as she didn’t earn much from that.
Once she got the food cart and started the business, her hard work ensured her kids were back in school and also she manages to pay her rent and her kids never go hungry. She has developed confidence as she can face people and speak up. Once a lady that was full of desperation, fear and feeling neglected now is optimistic because she was reached out.
Imagine what hand a of generosity, love, care can do to a woman and many more other women who are in need. We are grateful to so many of Home of Hope’s sponsors that are committed into reaching out to such women as Asha.
